Sept. 30th Prompt: After reviewing the feedback on your argument essay, identify one thing you did well and one area you need to improve. Explain what you will do differently the next time you write an AP Lang argument essay.

 One thing I did well was building a strong argument because I only missed the sophistication point. Next time, I will focus on adding more depth and complexity to my ideas to improve my writing and earn the sophistication point. I might also add a counterargument and rebuttal if time permits me to.

    We went over our argument essay scores and discussed our feedback. Afterward, we wrote a poem about any topic we wanted and created a poster to go with it.

    Seeing my score and my feedback helped me understand what I did well and what I can improve, while writing the poem gave me a chance to be more creative and have a chill assignment.

       A time when I tried to persuade someone to do something I wanted was when I tried to get my mother to purchase something for me. I used ethos by reminding her that I had been responsible and productive throughout the week. I used pathos by explaining how the purchase would make me extremely excited and happy. August 19th Prompt: How has living in or around Atlanta influenced the way you see your community, culture, or identity? If you were speaking to someone unfamiliar with Atlanta, what would you want them to understand about your community?

    Living around Atlanta has influenced me into seeing my community as more diverse and connected. Atlanta has many different cultures, backgrounds, and types of people, which has helped me understand and appreciate the differences between people.     In class Wednesday, we went in depth on breaking down a speech; looking at rhetorical appeal, rhetorical situation, and rhetorical choices. We talked about how rhetorical choice applies to specific situations, and how certain things are better to say than others depending on the audience. This helped me understand that effective communication is not just about what you say, but also how and why you say it. I can use this when analyzing speeches and when making my own arguments because I will be more aware of my audience and the choices I make.

August 24th Prompt: Describe something you will never fully understand.

       Something I will never understand is how time seems to move faster when I get older. I know time itself doesn't change, but it still feels like it moves faster as you get older. It is weird how years can pass without me realizing it.      In class, we learned how to break down prompts and identify exactly what the question is asking us to do. We practiced turning the prompt into a clear claim that directly answers the question.      This helped me understand how breaking down a prompt first can make it easier to develop a strong response.
