Sept 16: After reviewing and scoring other AP Language argument essays, identify two important takeaways that you can apply to your own writing. Explain what you learned about claims, evidence, commentary, the “so what?” explanation, or the AP rubric. Use specific observations from the essays you reviewed. Write one complete paragraph.

One takeaway from grading essays today is that the sophistication point can be earned in a variety of ways. Another takeaway is that developing evidence and explaining it properly is the most important part of the essay.

In class today we worked on grading essays, using the AP Lang Argument Essay rubric to determine how many points each response should receive.

This helped me better understand what the graders are looking for and what makes an argument essay successful. It will help me recognize areas I need to improve in my own writing.
