August 21st Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.

     One thing that makes me different from other people is that how I approach my goals. Everyone has different strengths and priorities, and I think my determination to keep improving is one of the things that makes me unique.

    On Friday in class we did a quiz on rhetoric and what we have been learning. 

    The quiz gave me a chance to see how well I understood rhetorical appeals, rhetorical situations, and rhetorical choices. It also helped me recognize which areas I understand well and which ones I may need to review.

       A time when I tried to persuade someone to do something I wanted was when I tried to get my mother to purchase something for me. August 10: As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

      As I grow older and face more and more new experiences, the topic that I think will be the most common subject of debate is the U.S. economy. The economy in the United States is one of the most talked about things in our society everyday; whether it's spoken about among close friends, political leaders, or on the news and TV.  The economy is a major topic of debate when talking about anything with a price, making it a more and more common topic in our consumer society. As I grow older there will only be more and more things that people will have to pay for, and I will have to start making more purchasing decisions myself. August 17th Prompt: Describe a time you felt completely lost.

      One time I felt completely lost was when I first moved to a new school. I did not know where anything was, who anyone was, or what the norms were. It felt like everyone knew each other and I was completely by myself.      During class on Monday, we went in depth on Claims of Value and how to write criteria lists to fulfill claims of value. We then completed an assignment that required us to create criteria lists for certain claims of value.     This class helped me to understand the defining factors of a Claim of Value and a criteria list. I also better understand how to create criteria lists for Claims of Value and the differences between argumentative claims.
